Bride is Talk of the Toon

Jill Halfpenny was a favourite in London soap EastEnders, but when she wed fellow actor Craig Conway there was never any doubt her beloved Newcastle would be the venue.

"It's where our roots are," Jill told HELLO! following her engagernent last year. The Geordie pair, who are both 31 and have been together for five vears, married at St Andrew's, a beautiful 15th-century church in the city centre. They invited some 100 family and friends - including Jill's pregnant Waterloo Road co-star Angela Griffin - but drew an even bigger crowd of wellwishing locals, earning a massive cheer when they emerged, smiling, from the church.

Jill who won BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing in 2004, was radiant in an ivory satin empire line Jenny Packham gown encrusted with pearls. She had four bridesmaids - and the groom almost matched her with three best men.

Jill’s outfit was complimented with Flo & Percy vintage jewellery.

"We're the two happiest people in Newcastle - it's great to be back home," Craig said.

The newlyweds, who live in West London, went on to their reception in a white cab, their guests following on two double-decker buses, where they feasted on bangers and mash.
